I got the Geneva model S partially because of this review, since I am a big Spotify listener. However the play/pause/back buttons on the remote won't work when listening to Spotify.

Re: hardwrk SATA Adaptor Kit For MacBook Pro Reviewed

1) You're best off finding someone who is familiar and confident with opening up a laptop, but this doesn't mean you can't have a crack at doing it yourself. Computers aren't that delicate, you just need to remember to disconnect ribbon cables gently, take your time, and make sure that you know where every screw you remove comes from, so you can put them back in place. For your particular laptop, this guide should get you most of the way: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Ma...

2) Disk read/write performance will, of course, increase. This has the effect of incredibly quick booting, and faster application loading times ( I barely reboot, but when I do it takes a few seconds, not as fast as a MacBook Air, but fast ). It will not eliminate the Beach Ball entirely, but it'll certainly make a noticeable difference. Gaming performance will be largely unaffected, except for loading times which should also be noticeably better. Faster on-the-fly loading may also give a perceived better performance in some games.

The size of the SSD you choose will really play a part here. If you go for 128GB then it's likely you'll want your games on the much larger HDD that you choose, and thus their performance will not change. Bear in mind that, by picking a 7200RPM hard drive, you can slightly increase the speed of the HDD over the stock 5200RPM ones that come with MacBook Pros (unless you're already rocking a larger 7200RPM of course)

Good luck!

Re: hardwrk SATA Adaptor Kit For MacBook Pro Reviewed

Hi, I have two questions:
1) For someone who had never opened up a computer and doesn't really know that much about computers, will it be possible for me to install this? Especially since the manual is for the recent macbook pro, i'm afraid of getting lost or doing something wrong (i have a mid 2010 model 13'')
2) So this really helps for things like booting up your computer, and avoiding the spinning beach ball, but does it improve video game performance? Or will I still be limited by my graphics card?

Re: iControlPad Review

boas sabe como posso encomendar um???
se possível mande o link

Re: Solwise 183n Battery Powered 3G Router Review

Solwise has to be the number one powerline adapter for me it is truly amazing

Re: Yet Another Mobile Game Controller

Fantastic idea!

Re: Three Huawei E586 High-Speed Mobile Broadband Router Reviewed

I hope somebody reads this email and writes back. I am going nuts. I live in the US and I have a Toshiba Thrive tablet. I have a wireless carrier for the house only but I want to use this Toshiba thrive tablet off and on outside when I travel around the city or go on vacation. The tablet is not 3G it is a honeycomb android wifi 802.11 bgn wireless tablet. For the life of me I can't get a straight answer from anyone out here nor the web. I want to know if I purchase the Huawei Mobile Mifi E586 will it work for this tablet?? I don't even know where I would begin to look for a compatible standard sim card for it as I use a prepaid tracfone. So I just want a my tablet to have some sort of wifi connectivity when I go out. Virgin mobile has a tablet plan and I saw they carry a standard size sim card. Rates are high though. Any other suggestions and would their sim card work in this E586. As you can tell I am pretty frustrated trying to find the right answers. Please email be personally at h.halo@yahoo.com Thank you If you have any other suggestions if the above won't work please let me know.

Re: Gear4 Angry Birds iPhone 4 Case

once have the iphone, the angre bird games become one of the most familiar games, as well, the gear 4 anger bird iphone case gives the impression in people's heart as the same time.

Re: Gear4 Angry Birds iPhone 4 Case

fd

Re: Three Huawei E586 High-Speed Mobile Broadband Router Reviewed

A pitty the SD is only accessibel over USB and not over Wifi (unlike the novatel). over wifi it would make a nice place to transfer files between the devices on the lan without consuming bandwith.

Re: Three Huawei E586 High-Speed Mobile Broadband Router Reviewed

Have just logged into my E586 from an iPOD and found it has a mobile version of the admin screen. Nice bit of attention to detail. I was impressed.
Now I can send and receive text messages from my iPOD! It's not perfect as the 'back/reply' etc buttons are far to small (similar buttons on other screens are fine, though).

Re: Three Huawei E586 High-Speed Mobile Broadband Router Reviewed

Aha, that's exactly the sort of thing I'd have expected to see installed.
Might have to try again!

Re: Three Huawei E586 High-Speed Mobile Broadband Router Reviewed

I think you must have done. It loaded about 10 things when the USB drivers were installed on my Win7-64 bit laptop. I should have taken a screen shot. Here's a selection of what shows in control panel:

HUAWEI Mobile Connect - 3G PC UI Interface
HUAWEI Mobile Connect - Network Adapter
HUAWEI Enumerator Device
HUAWEI Mobile Connect - Bus Enumerate Device
HUAWEI Mobile Connect - Extra Control Device

And some other storage stuff. In fact, you don't need any drivers to charge it, so they must be doing something. I'm actually using it now via USB - when I plug it in, my Thinkpad turns off the wifi adapter (power saving maybe?) It's irritating as the Fn key to turn it back on wouldn't work and I had to reboot - not the dongle's fault, of course.

Re: Three Huawei E586 High-Speed Mobile Broadband Router Reviewed

Thanks for the feedback, it's appreciated. I couldn't really find much use for the USB connection, other than charging it. Did I somehow totally miss USB dongle functionality? It works for me (after I thought to open explorer and browse the device, not having auto-run enabled, I hadn't realised there was anything to install - it certainly isn't needed for wifi use). All in all an excellent device from my hour or so's playing with it.
I'm not sure what is meant by standby, though. If your tv supports rgb full or 0-255 mode, you will absolutely enjoy the benefits of an improved picture, i.e. darker blacks, whiter whites.

Re: Beyza iPhone 4 Pull-Strap Slip Case Review

I've been through so many cases that none have really got a particularly good amount of wear testing- so it makes it difficult to answer.

I think it's safe to say, however, that if any case is likely to stand up to wear and tear, then these are a good example. And, that aside, they look so good that I wouldn't be inclined to worry about how it stands up to abuse- as long as it doesn't disintegrate in weeks.

Thus far I haven't had the problem with glue that you mention on any leather case, although some of the soft pseudo leather ones I've had, and used constantly ( they make good cases for the Magic mouse ) are cracking around the top edge.

I had someone who saw the Beyza I was testing buy their own, and they love it. Definitely a good brand, but as for longevity I cannot truthfully say.

Re: Beyza iPhone 4 Pull-Strap Slip Case Review

Hey,
After some months, are you stil pleased with this case? I am thinking of buying one too..

In the past I had a comparable slip case from More Thing. It was also a good case, but after some time, the glue on the borders of the case came loose.. The case was still usable, but looked a lot less sexy..

How is your Beyza case holding up? Does it have the same issue?

Thanks

I am really impressed with the quality of these tuff-luv things. I’ve got mine for the iphone 4 and it is perfect in every way. Quality leather, incredibly thin, perfect finish, resistant but not bulky and doesn’t have any giant logo in the front. As a matter of fact, doesn’t have any logo in the front. Ended here my quest for an iphone 4 case. Congratulations on this product.

Re: APC BE700G UPS reviewed with 27″ iMac

I have found the BE700G to be more than suitable for keeping a sleeping iMac powered up through power outages. Recently I've had a kitchen installation, during which the power has been turned off multiple times. Everything I've been working on, on the iMac, has remained intact through these brief outages, it's really liberating, and refreshing as one of my fears when going back to desktops was their lack of a battery.

I have a 1000VA unit in at the moment, they're heavy, bulky and complicated to use- typically having kettle-lead connections, instead of ordinary plug sockets making it very difficult to even connect the iMac. The BE650Y-IN looks like it'll do the trick, but bear in mind that your iMac should be sleeping or, at least, have the screen turned off to make the most of back-up time.

I have since removed the USB cable between my iMac and UPS, it's unnecessary for anticipated short downtimes, and the hard shut down performed in an emergency is really no better than a plain power off for long outages. That's one USB port I can't afford to dedicate to something like the UPS.

Re: Incipio Feather Polycarbonate Shell iPad Case Review

It is, indeed, only a case. You'd have to buy a screen protector separately. My comments about fingerprints (if you read this article in particular) may have slightly misled you, but they concern the back of the iPad- and thus the case covering it- and its tendency to pick up fingerprints. After all, it's irritating enough collecting them on the screen, without having a case that needs wiping too!

I recommend the Proporta iPad screen protector, if you need one, matte cannot be beat!

Re: Incipio Feather Polycarbonate Shell iPad Case Review

I am SO confused. I bought this, thinking it was a screen protector at the very least and a case at most. All it is is a plastic molded piece for the BACK of the iPad. There was no adhesive to worry about.
